WINTER GROUP SHOW @ WHITE WALLS

White Walls is pleased to announce their annual Winter Group Show, an exhibition featuring the work of many prominent urban artists of both established and emerging careers working in assorted genres and mediums. The exhibition features works by Charles Krafft, Joshua Petker, ABOVE, Clayton Brothers, Akira, Hush, Shepard Fairey, Henry Gunderson, D Young V, Jessica Hess, Pedro Matos, Kevin Cyr, Casey Gray, Geoff Campen, Diana Campen and Blek le Rat. The opening reception for The Winter Group Show will be held at White Walls on Saturday, December 11 from 7-10pm. The exhibition will be on display through January 01, 2011 and is free and open to the public.

The Winter Group Show aims to reveal the wide variety of topics and themes urban, street and lowbrow artists explore, and put forth challenging ideas about urban art. Joshua Petker consciously continues the art historical practice of exploring the nuance of human emotion through the female form. Shepard Fairey’s “esthetic flirtations with… propaganda graphics” aims to inspire his audience to investigate the political and socio-economic status quo. Newcastle-based street artist Hush’s portraits of geisha and anime women examine gender roles, juxtaposing Eastern imagery and Western cultural values. These three artists are just a sample of the incredible artwork that will be on display in the Winter Group Show. This exceptional collection of art will further examine the boundaries of lowbrow, street, and fine art in an exciting and novel way.

6on12: W Hotel South Beach Residency

For all of you that were not able to make it down to Miami this past week for Art Basel, don’t worry, your’re in luck. I took some photos of my work up in the W Hotel South Beach’s residencies. Big thanks to The Arts Fund and White Walls for putting on the show. There was a cocktail reception every night from 6-8pm which meant free food and booze for a week straight. Not too shabby….
